Sharp 27" SDTV Advice
I'm considering buying a Sharp 27" SDTV (model 27SC260). It comes with a one year warranty for parts and labor from Best Buy. I'm buying it for my dorm room, so my main concern is that the picture/sound are ok and that it will last for a couple of years at least. I'm also on a tight budget, would like to stay under $250 for a 24/27" tv. Does anyone who owns one of these or knows anything helpful about this TV have any advice to share?

Since it sounds like you are in college and on a budget, I would suggest checking out Craigslist (assuming you are in or near a major city) in the electronics section for used TV's. You can usually find a good quality 27" SD tv for anywhere from $50-$100. I just got an a Sharp 27" SD tv for my mother-in-law for $50 a couple of weeks ago. The picture on it is nice, and if (for some reason) it happens to go kaput in a year or so, I know I can find another for a similar price. You can get a new TV if you like if the warranty means alot to you, but my advice would be to go cheap and save your $$ for other things.

I used the THX Optimizer DVD to set it up, and the GameCube, PS2, and DVD all look GREAT over component video. The other game systems over S-Video look amazing as well. Our Sharp was the main TV in the house, at least until the Sony HDTV showed up. I'd say go for it ![]() |
