Download saved shows to PC

I have a motorola 6412 and I would like to download my saved shows from PVR to my PC.
I connected the firewire cable but I get the following error on my PC:

"The video device is currently in use. Close any other program that is using the device and try again. If you need to start import Video again, turn off your import device and then turn it on again"

Did anyone run into this issue? Is it possible to download saved shows to my PC?

Thanks for the suggestion. I read thru the thread and I followed it originally to get setup. It mostly deals with recording to WinXP not enumerating existing recording on the PVR and copying them down to the PC.

Also, it does not address the workaround or solution to the error msg I get when I connect the PVR to windows. "The video device is currently in use..."

Additional help is appreciated
thanks

The only way of getting a recording off the DVR and onto the computer is to play it in real time via the firewire port.
