SA 2200 Explorer???

I got this box from my parents. When I hooked it up I received a message - "Explorer set top not authorized please call XXX-XXX-XXXX"
What does this mean?
Thanks in advance.

hi.... the message that is showing from your stb means that you need to call the cable or dbs co. so they can "turn it on" from their HQ. sometimes you don't even talk to a real person just a computer voice telling you they are sending a signal to activate your stb... so enjoy!

Thanks CV.
When I call, will I have this added to my cable bill even though I'm not leasing it from them (Adelphia/Comcast)?

now that's a loaded question..lol...if the co. charges you for a box like all the other cos. than yes you will be...but than will it be compatible w/ their system since where did you(your parents) get it from them in the 1st place?

The box will NEVER get authorized. This a load of junk above. The box is stolen anyway! SA does NOT sell these boxes to consumers. They are owned by cable companies only and no cable company is going to let you put a two-way box on their system that they don't own. You must lease one of their boxes or use a CableCard TV. You cannot simply plug in a stolen box and expect it to work!!!

thats what I was telling him ...if he didn't get it from the cable co. than you have a snowball's chance in hell of getting it to work. looks like someone is trying to pull a fast one lol
