New surround formats will not work?

Ok, I'm really confused now.
According to this PC World article, "all components including your tv must have 1.3 HDMI in order to hear Dolby True HD or DTS-HD?"

It states it clearly at the bottom of the article.
That cannot be right!
What kinda crap is that?

Are they saying that everyone is going to have to buy an all new tv?
This just does not make any since.

Here's the link:

I don't see where they said that at all. Where in that article is the line you quoted?

The article didn't say that at all. Just said to experience the benefits of 1.3 all your components must be HDMI 1.3. Didn't say you must have it to get Dolby TrueHD etc.

First sentence, last paragraph:

"To experience HDMI 1.3's benefits, however, all your components--including the TV--must support the standard."

I'm enjoying TrueHD right now and don't have HDMI 1.3 at all. That is just HDMI.org FUD.

Indeed, but TrueHD, etc., are not part the "benefits" of HDMI 1.3. It will allow you to send them undecoded to your receiver, which has no benefit (and some drawbacks) compared to decoding in the player as is done now with 1.1.

Let me get this straight: you fabricated a quote and attributed it PC World, when their actual article says nothing of the sort, and then you act all upset ("What kinda crap is that? ") about a statement that you invented. Why the lie? Are you deliberately trying to get people angry at PC World for some reason?

You still didn't answer the question why you lied and posted a made-up quote.

Misquoting an article doesn't make me a lier, it just makes me human.
Sorry if i don't have the 'God like perfection' that makes up your being.
Sounds to me like you take this whole internet thing way to seriously.
Maybe you should go get a job and stop hangn round your parent's computer.

And you still failed to answer the question initially raised.
So not only do you take all this internet stuff way too seriously,
you need to learn how to stay on topic and try to answer the question.
Please for everyones sake, stay in school.

Spare me. In this day and age of cut-n-paste, you didn't misquote; you fabricated the quote. The rest of your post makes that clear.

Ironic coming from someone who refers to himself as "NetGod".

Which question initially raised?

The fake quote you attibuted to PC World: "all components including your tv must have 1.3 HDMI in order to hear Dolby True HD or DTS-HD?"

Your feigned indignance: What kinda crap is that?

Or the inflamatory conclusion you reached from your fake quote: Are they saying that everyone is going to have to buy an all new tv?

But your questions aren't real; they're a ploy to get everyone worked up. The magazine never stated what you quoted, let alone saying that everyone is going to have to buy an all new TV. That's all stuff you made up.

If your goal truly was to get an answer about HDMI and the new HD audio codecs, you could have done a search or asked in a straight forward manner. There are plenty of people listening to TrueHD right now without HDMI (1.3 or otherwise), making the answer to your question rather obvious.

Instead you tried to slam a magazine that printed factual information and you ended up busted in a lie. So now you're whining about it and calling me names. Better luck next time.
