On Demand

Cox cable in Tulsa area is going to offer on-demand service pretty soon. And i was wondering if these on-demand type services will hinder or interfere with there internet service or current tv.
I wouldn't mind having on-demand, but if it interfers in any way with my internet connection or the quality of my HDtv I would say no way. I don't want to make that change.
I have had cable for many many years and i have probably used the in-demand service less than once a year, and have probably 'rented' less than 5 movies. So don't really see me being all the excited about a service that might interfer with my current services.

Why would it interfere your HDTV or internet? Did you ever stop to think that On-Demand has been around for years and thousdands upon thousands of cable subscribers have not reported any problems as such that you are scared of. Besides, you don't have a choice! Every single channel is there whether you watch it or not. Your STB or CableCard is just allowing you into the ones that you pay for and denying access to the ones that you don't pay for. You don't get to choose!!! This has to be one of the most stupid questions I have heard in a long time.

Well, actually i'm talking about the COX services that they call On-Demand which allows customers to watch a movie or show at anytime the customer chooses, as opposed to there current In-Demand service which allows you to purchase movies that start at predesignated times (on the hour). My fear is that if neighbor A starts watching superman returns at 3:17 and neighbor B starts watching superman returns at 3:20 and I start watching the same move at 3:30, that would be three different data streams, that might require a lot of bandwidth.

The On Demand services are basically set up to stream on designated frequencies. Just like your internet is on its own band.
There are limits to ho many streams can be recieved but me and my family are On Demand junkies. I even checked out On Demand when they showed Narnia in HD an hyped it all month. I watched it just as a stress test assuming others would be watching it when it premiered as well.
I streamed it multiple times throughout the day, never a hiccup.
Enjoy your service.
Watch HBO in your bedroom, surf online while watching On Demand and talking on your Digital Phone.. one wouldnt affect the other.

If you subscribe to any premium services like HBO, Starz, etc. OnDemand is nice to have. Most of the movies I've watched on Starz have been OnDemand.
- I can watch movies when I want without recording first. Stop and resume later.
- Movies are shown without the logo and there are no banners and/or overtalk during the closing credits.
- And even with SD, many movies are shown in widescreen format OR you have a choice between the widescreen or fullscreen version. TMC and Showtime also show some OnDemand movies in widescreen, but of the three, Starz seems to be the best about it. (I don't subscribe to HBO or Cinemax.)

I have FiOS and have done internet speed tests while viewing an OnDemand program and there is no change in max speed. I would think it would be the same with most cable companies.

Yes, this service called ON-Demand (NOT PPV as you seemed to be used to) has been around for YEARS!!! There is nothing wrong with it. It works!
