CM7775 vs CM7777

Since the CM7777 is backordered everywhere with an ETA of the end of Feb, would there be a disadvantage of going with the CM7775? I have a big UHF/VHF multidirectional antenna but all the channels I want (HD) are in the UHF range. Get the 7775 or wait on the 7777.

It appears the CM7775 has the exact same specifications as the UHF section of the CM7777. The CM7775 is very likely to block VHF frequencies, so don't expect to receive VHF channels at all.

The following is now longer valid due to the OPs edit above: BTW, the antennaweb results you posted appear to all be NTSC analog stations. No digital, ATSC and therefore no HD stations are listed.

Is there any other good alternatives to the 7777? I guess i could live with the 7775 cuz all i use the antenna for is OTA HD. Whats your thought on the CM7778 or Winguard 4700?

Another thing, I hooked up a motorola signal booster to my antenna and I instantly saw an increae in signal strength of 15-25%. Since that has a 15 db gain, should I assume more of a gain my going with a pre-amp with 19 or 23db gain?

Signal strength means almost nothing with ATSC.

Signal to noise ratio is the key which stays constant as you amplify signal (or can actually decrease SNR) in an amp.

All three are most definitely digital stations.

So what would your suggestion be on a pre-amp since i don't want to wait for the 7777?

Winegard makes fine amplifiers as well. Maybe you can find one of those easier.

I have an AP-4700. It works very well, but it's UHF only, which may be fine for you.

The 7778 is a lower gain version of the 7777. In nearly all cases you won't notice the difference. The 7778 is slightly better with overload than the 7777. The 7778 has the same flexible input configuration as the 7777.

Yes I did

I saw the mistake and fixed that. I went ahead and order the CM7778. Hopefully its a good choice.

I had that delay problem ordering from warrenelectronics,so I got the 7778 from them.I can't tell any difference between the two.

I use the CM7775, as all of my stations are UHF. Combined with a XG-91 (use to use a CM4228), I get great signals from over 60 miles out.

I have the CM7777 and also the CM0264
I tested them head to head
the 0264 was the winner for my setup on account of the 300 ohm inputs, no need for a balun that causes a loss of gain

KTTC-DT 10.1 currently broadcasting in UHF 36 may go back to VHF 10 when the NTSC OTA analog broadcast terminates in circa Feb 2009.
Then you may need to pass VHF signal which the Channel Master 7778 will do.
