Jedi Theater Candy Rack installed!

Finally finished the Candy Rack for the Jedi Theater. It fits in a wall niche right by the entrance. The cabinet is a CD/DVD rack from IKEA that I painted black on the outside and white on the inside. Lights, wood, plastic diffuser, acrylic and hardware from Home Depot. Made the light box from scrap pieces of wood. My scrapbooking friend used a CRICUT to cut out the letters and I used the negative of the letter cutout. The faceplate is removable (to get at the bulb in back) and the sign is glued to a plastic diffuser in back and pressed against the clear acrylic in front. Lights turn on & off by the power strip (outlet is right behind the rack so needed a low profile power strip). Total material cost <$100 (including the $23 router bit needed for the face plate). Really classes up the Jedi Theater entrance!

It's a JARNA Glass-Door Wall cabinet for $19.99.
It's under the TV & Media Solutions area of the IKEA website under Media Furniture. Looks like you have to buy it in the store.
Sorry can't sell it, took me forever to finally get it done!

That's the one!
Little piece of advice. If you want to paint the inside it might be a good idea to paint the inside pieces before you put it togehter. I made the mistake of painting the entire thing black then put it together. Once it was installed I realized what a dumb idea it was to paint the inside black since you want it to be nice and bright so had to repaint the inside. It's a lot harder with the doors in the way.

Looks great. What kind of paint did you use?

I picked up three of these last night at Ikea - they rang up at $12.99. I have no idea why.

Painted the inside Hi-gloss white so it would be nice and bright when the light is on. The outside is just some left over paint from the theater, black in a eggshell finish.
Sounds like you got a great deal at $12.99!

I realize that this is a delayed response... but any chance of being more detailed on the modifications? I'd like to know what light was purchased! How it was installed into the box? This really looks like a great project! Any more info would be greatly appreciated!

idora here are some more details. Hope this helps!
The lights are from Home Depot. They are Hampton Bay 13" long flourescents, 8 watts each. They are silver and come in a 3 pack (think they were about $25). The one inside is just mounted to the top (it comes with little mounting pieces so you can mount it various ways).
The Candy sign is just a litebox I built with spare pieces of wood. It is the same width as the rack and about 5" high and deep. I lined the inside with aluminum foil to reflect all the light out through the sign. The light is mounted to the back of the lightbox. Both lights are plugged into a surge strip and left in the "On" position. Then one click of the surge strip turns everything On.
The faceplate is just a piece of wood that I cut the middle out. Routered the back so the sign would fit. The sign is held in place with those plastic pieces that hold up mirrors that I reversed and drilled extra holes into. The faceplate attaches to the litebox with some hasps.
That's about it!
