Do we really need a thread like this every day? I don't understand the gloating, some of you act like you're on Sony's board of directors or something.I'm sure I'll get lambasted for saying that in here, but what the hell. Blu-ray is winning, yay let's dance in the streets.

and if that doesn't happen I'm sure it will be because euro ps3 owners don't like to order stuff online.

sigh.

These numbers are just as useless as they are when they show HD-DVD winning.

I thought that rational consensus was had by all here. Untill the numbers started telling you what you wanted to hear. You guys would make great scientists.

For the better part of last year this forum was filled with threads discussing how HD DVD sales far exceeded BD sales. It's not fun anymore when the tables are turned is it?

The numbers are useless but the trend is undeniable.

(Yes, I have had my share of statistics classes).

Quite frankly I think it's childish on BOTH sides. There are no less than 4 topics on the first page discussing the same thing.I don't really have a format preference.I bought the 360 add-on and will buy the PS3 around March and buy BR movies. So,if you're insinuating that I've got sour grapes, think again.

This fascination with wishing death upon something you don't support is very rampant on this forum, and very childish for what you would assume is a board of supposedly mature, rational minded people.Last time I checked, competiton and choice was a good thing.

My point is that this forum was overrun with HD DVD sales talk for several months and now it's flooded with BD sales talk. I'm not calling you out directly. My feeling is that the increase in BD sales threads is wholeheartedly being done as a response to all of the previous HD DVD ones. Nothing more. No offense meant to you personally in any way.

Also dont forget Sony has some big name titles coming up and whether you like the particular title or not they will drive PS3 sales. Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm and Lair will all sell systems. For every system sold some will use it for a movie player as well. Such as myself. I dont care who wins the DVD war, but it would be much easier on me if Blu Ray did. Then I dont need to buy a stand alone until they drop in price, for the meantime the PS3 will do fine.

See, I thought this was a format war.

Not a war on who can be the most annoying!

Well either war - the battle lines currently look evenly drawn.

Yeah sorry no offense taken.I guess when I came to this board,I saw it as a place to objectively discuss our HT hobbies. It's slowly turning into a 'my d**k is bigger than yours' crapfest.

Objective discussion is hard to come by in the BD/HD DVD subforums.

It came down to money for me, and the $200 XBox 360 player won.

When they release a $200 HD DVD/Blu-ray/MP3/DVD Audio/WMA/FLAC/AAC/Protected AAC/SACD 5 disc changer with fast load times, I am buying it.

Yeah you should take a run by the video game forums and the daily 'PS3 is better than 360 is better than Wii' B.S

Congratulations on picking the best format: Blu-ray

I predicted that by May Blu-ray would be pulling WAY ahead in sales, however at this rate it may not even take that long.
Obviously it wasn't "biased in favor of HD DVD" based on these results. You just PERCEIVED them that way because HD DVD was way ahead in sales. Now that BD is pulling ahead they're fair all of a sudden?

Take away the PS3 sales whcih do not count and just look at people looking to buy and HD or BD player. HD is outselling BD hardware 5:1

One can argue that the PS3 will carry the format but the fact is that those buying a PS3 are not necessarily looking for a BD player.

Actually I believe they were based on how the website was structured and organized. The day the 1st category had a change of lead (HD-DVD to blu-ray) they re-orgnized it and placed another category where HD-DVD was in the lead to be the first thing displayed on the page.

actually people are using the PS3 as a blu-ray player, that is factual. Also the PS3 sales do count just as the HD-DVD add-on for the 360. Of course it is easier on some people to not deal with the whole picture.

Not again! Must be a slow news day? There are tons of new releases. Lets just talk about movies or cool new gear or gadgets.

That's a tinfoil-hat assessment if you ask me.

HD DVD was ahead and now it's behind. It's as simple as that. No reason to break out "the number 23" theories.

Then who is buying all the Bd movies?

You're right. They're buying a million PS3s for all of those exclusive, A-List game titles that are out.

Once a fair number of these titles do come out, expect to see the BD attach rate drop a bit, but only because so many more PS3s will be purchased.

I know quite a few gamers who are saving their pennies for that day.
