sorry i do not. I JUST got the info for the new and Denon receivers that are set to be out on the floor. I'm almost positive that this amp will be order only and available the earliest around fall time.

Counter intuitive though it may seem, calling Denon and asking for release dates on the new models may not get you the correct answer. Quite often the customer service and tech support people are not clued in to the actual facts concerning new model shipping dates. I like the info I can get from my dealer because it flows from the sales and marketing side of the company and they have an obligation to keep their trading partners accurately informed. That being said...my local dealer has been provided with a schedule that has the AVR-3808CI and the AVR-4308CI shipping in mid-July. The 2308CI, 2808CI and 5308CI are scheduled to ship early to mid August. All the models below the 2308CI are due out in September.

OK; which thread will speculate on the feature set for the units below the 3808? Unlike most of us here, I waver between a 2308, 2808, and 3808...not between 3808 and 4308.

I do have a 3806 in the upstairs rig. But I am not sure I need all those features for the downstairs rig (80% of the usage is xbox 360 in dolby prologic II of the Scientific Atlanta 8300 HD straight into the TV right now). Only 20% is the mean old dad (me) playing with all of his toys.

Hmm, I am not quite sure I follow. Which remote are you referring to? As far as I understand from this report the 4308 comes with 2 remotes - the ones shown in the 2nd picture.

Now for me this is actually a downside. I have a MX3000 universal remote control (actually 2 of them) and no intention to ever use any of my the stock remotes. However, I always have to pay for them....

The upsell remote is a 2 way RF remote that will do things like list songs being played, show current status of the receiver, etc. Apparently it is a Universal Remote (looks like a custom MX-950); Universal Remote got a contract from Denon to provide remotes to them. Making a lot of assumptions (basically that it is as powerful as the MX-950) this is one piece of gear's "universal remote" that I would actually use as an all-in-one universal remote for my entire home theater.

This is what I am hoping for in the way of a 2 way remote. The setup OSD is fine but I need some way to see what the AVR screen is telling me since I cannot see its screen in my configuration. So, the remote or OSD that does the same would be a very important feature for me. I do like the remote screen idea over having it on the HDTV.

Perhaps in a month Denon will start releasing some details about these AVR's.

Since the existing units will allow this, I would say it is very likely to allow pass-thru.

Strange isn't it ... the 4308 has faroudja and will cost more than $2000, while the onkyo has Silicon Optix and will cost considerably less ... looks like there are difficult times coming for Denon !

Maybe they figure people with a Denon wll have an external scaler. I know I would never use the Reon in a receiver. I already have the Reeon in the FLEA and the XA2 and use the VP50 for my scaler. I would never use it in my receiver. Although if I did I would prefer the Silicon Optix solution over the Faroudja

I see your point, but I also see the price of the VP50:-)

In the 4308 there will be a scaler (whether you use it or not) and at that price point the Faroudja doesn't do the trick.

Any comments how the VP50 compares in video performance with Reon or Realta? (Happen to see the VP50 at work compared to the DENON 3930 with Realta inside?).
