Has anyone heard the new Ladies DVD-Audio release. It includes their last release, "Barenaked Ladies Are Me" and their new one, "Barnaked Ladies are Men". The surround mix was done my Bob Clearmountain and it's excellent. It combines some ambient surround effects along with some discrete placement of instruments in the rear. Some mixes are just perfectly tailored for the music and this is one of them. I found it at my local Borders, where I seem to be able to find the odd surround release more quickly than anywhere else.

I didn't realize these were available in DVD-Audio. When "...Are Me" first came out I looked for a surround version but found nothing. (I love their DVD-Audio of "Everything to Everyone".)
On-line at Best Buy, Amazon, and Borders I found nothing that indicates this is anything except a conventional CD.

"Maroon" and "Everything to Everyone" have also been released on DVD-A.
I have never heard these guys. If I wanted to check them out, which one should I start with of the three DVD-As they have released? Mitch

Just have to put in another good word for BNL's latest in surround. I think it brings out the best in this band, giving some size and dimension to the recording, wheras the stereo cd I have of Maroon actually sounds pretty two dimensional and flat. This may seem like an absurd comparison, but the surround presentation reminds me of Porcupine Tree's IN ABSENTIA from time to time, in that the layering of vocals and certain instrumental passages seem to make certain songs sound bigger-than-life - or at least bigger than their stereo counterparts. Having never been that much of a fan, I'm surprised by how much this one is growing on me.
