Blu-ray buy day on April 21st started at PS3FORUMS.COM, 30 people signed up already

I think I'll go over and register there to sign up for a few. Again this is on PS3FORUMS.COM and the Official USA Playstation Forums, both gaming sites. I thought PS3 owners weren't into movies lol.

Anyway would be fun to see this get started across several major forums.

Wow it has also been started on the Official United States Playstation Forums.


However they are doing it on a different day May 27th. They have signed up 40 Playstation 3 gamers there in one day.


The Official United States Playstation Forum has close to 1,000,000 active members.

Hopefully communication can be established across the different forums so that everyone can work together.


I am starting to think that all the HD-DVD buy might have accomplished is awakening the 800lb. gorilla that is the PS3 installed user base.

The reason why this is wrong is because you suck up all the buying to one day, and then what about the rest of the week and the week after?

The whole idea is about watching movies you enjoy, this is not really a crusade or some existential angst. Just buy your movies when you want to watch it (or collect it), not because of any other political reasons.

Anyone remember the great "Don't buy gas on XXXX date" chain letter that went around. People got all hyped up and were saying that we should all fill up the day before so we wouldn't need gas on the "gas-out" day and the gas companies would take notice of their declining profit.....

Needless to say, my coworkers merely looked at me dumbfounded as I explained that they wouldn't give a flying flip as they would have record profits the day before their record declines and they would maintain an average.

Same principal here. Unless your going to buy EXTRA discs that you wouldn't have normally bought. All the studios are going to see is a dry spell right before a giant landslide and they'll call it an even average. The only way any of this works is if you get people to buy moves they don't actually want and wouldn't purchase in the first place. But then what is the freaking point. You might as well just make a donation to your favorite format headquarters.
