DVE question

I have been using DVE to fix my darkness problems on my TV w/ my 360. However Since I run games in 1080i/HD , me running DVE does nothing. I switched my 360 back to non HD today, and things got brighter.

Is there a way I can adjust things correctly for HD display?

oh im hooked up via component if that makes any difference.

I have the same problem and for the longest time I couldn't adjust my overscan properly because of it. But a week or two ago I DVRed some test patterns off of HDNet and was able to use those to do my adjustments. Because my cable box can output in any resolution ( Except 1080p, of course ) I was able to adjust for all of the different resolutions. But on my 360 I can get DVDs to play only at 480i or 480p. I even bought the 360 HD-DVD player and it won't upscale either. DVE is also available on HD-DVD but I have the DVD version. I bought it first now knowing that a few weeks later I'd decide to buy the HD-DVD attachment for the 360.

I have heard that you can upscale DVDs with the 360 if you run it over VGA. Why that would be true I don't know but it's what I've heard.
