question about 7 year old sony crt
I have a KV-32FS10 that I bought about 7 years ago. It has served us well over the years and has a very crisp picture.
Does anyone have any idea of what resolution the component input on the back of the TV will accept? I remember it was supposed to be HD compatible. Thanks. |

The TV is not HD, I'm assuming, because it has FS in the model number.
So 480i over component should be what resolution you get. As far as what it can accept, probably 480p as well, but 480p will display as 480i. A 720p or 1080i signal most likely give you a blank screen. Try it and see what happens, you won't break anything. |

Clearly an HD compatible set should be able to accept either 720p or 1080i. or both.
My older RCA set clearly stated it would only accept 480i on the component inputs - although it would take HD (1080i) on the high resolution inputs. HD compatible is meaningless if you can only feed it 480, interlaced or not. Although from the manual http://www.docs.sony.com/release/KV32FS10.pdf there appears to only be NTSC component capability (480i although not specifically stated on page 8) Last edited by RalphArch; 07-28-07 at 10:22 AM.. |
