26HF66 causing interference?
While I love this little 1080i CRT, there is one issue that's been nothing but a headache from day one. I've scoured the internet to no avail. I'm having an interference problem I cannot seem to solve. The interference is in the form of approximately 1/2" horizontal lines that are more apparent when viewing low light material. I have had no other types of interference whatsoever with the television. Some devices are immune to it. Others seem to have no solution.
Devices with interference: Sony DVD player, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Gamecube Devices with no noticeable interference whatsoever: Sony PS2, Toshiba DVD player, Xbox 360, Sega Dreamcast. I tried everything I could think of to isolate the interference. I unplugged everything but the Sony DVD player and the television. I bought a monster power cleaner and monster cables. No change in the interference (luckily I kept the receipts). I finally discovered (with the Sony DVD player) that if I hold the component cable at a certain angle the interference seems to disappear. When using s-video cables with the same DVD player, no matter what I did with the cable position, the interference was still apparent. The same scenario applies to my Gamecube. Both s-video and component show interference but I can position the component cable to rid the problem. The current culprit is the Wii. Using the composite cable there is no noticeable interference. With the component cable there is obvious interference. I've tried moving the cable every which way to no avail. It seems the only difference is had when I position the console itself as far from the TV as possible (about 6'). The interference is still there, just not as obvious. Based on my experience thus far, I have to assume the interference is coming from the TV itself. I've lived in 3 different apartments since owning it and had the same problems. My folks had an old VCR and DVD player. When stacked they'd have interference issues, but if you put a book between them it went away. So my current theory is if I can somehow shield the Wii itself from the TV... Any suggestions? |
