Simple Connection problem

Ive had this Insignia 27 inch HD tube tv, model # NS-27HTV for about a year. Now i recently bought a 40 inch lcd and i want to move my tube up in my bedroom, my bedroom just has standard cable with no box, just the coax cable going into the back of the tv, this is where my problem begins...i do the auto channel search and it only picks up the first 12 channels which are all local stations, after that it does not recognize any others..ive tried to manually search for channels also but no luck...i used to have a HD dvr box attatched to this tv but it is now on my lcd, is that the problem? or is this certain type of tv not able to pick up signals without the cable box?? any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Check the settings for the input and make sure it's set to "cable" instead of "antenna" or "air".

It's usually described in the manual.

It's also possible that your cable company scrambles all channels above 13, requiring you to rent their cable box if you want to see any of the analog channels from ch 14 - 99. This was how it was at my mom's building, with Comcast.
