I don't know about that model, but there's MASSIVE help in the "Sony Service Codes" thread for newer ones. You might get some ideas to try there.

As far as I know there is no way to go back to a "default" setting once you've changed and saved things. That's why people are always recommending that you write down any changes you make so that you can manually set things back to the way they had been if you want or need to.

I'm curious to know what exactly you changed with the service menu that you think other people wouldn't like. Isn't the whole point of tinkering in the service menu to make the TV better?

There are no fixed set of default values as they are tweaked before leaving the factory. However, The Sony service manuals show the approximate default values, which likely vary by a few points from the defaults of your TV.

Yea man. Even if you have the service manual you will most likely never get the TV settings back to how they originally came from the factory. I noticed after writing down my default settings for my xbr970 when comparing to the service manual that some settings were off by a few numbers. I guess the service manual is more of the default ball park numbers, then when they do a final adjustment before it leaves the factory they change some things up to fix the "out of whack" TV's to compensate for any unique problems and ship them off to us. Like my set they didn't even have the whole picture inside the raster. Even after adjusting the blanking settings the picture was just cut off at like 5% overscan on the top and bottom. They set my mid 2 settings totally off.

LOL just realized now this topic is a few months old and was bumped, so i'm sure by now you either got your set fixed or just gave up.
