That tv is a FLAT NTSC(ANALOG) TV. No digital tuner in there. But that being said: If you ONLY receive your TV signals from an antenna, then YES, you will need a digital receiver in order to get TV. But, if you are a cable or satellite subscriber, then you will not need one. Cable is a little iffy right now, especially if you only get the analog package(Channels 2-99 for most people), and don't have a STB(Set Top Box) to receive the channels. The cable companies may "FORCE" people to join up to their digital tiers to get out more boxes, and make more money. They would use the analog cutoff date as an EXCUSE to force people to go digital. They would claim that the goverment is making them go that direction. The analog cutoff date DOES NOT affect the cable companies at all. They could/should(whether or not they WILL, we have to wait and see) still send out the analog service to their customers. But greed is a tough thing for them to ignore. |
