Offical Samsung 69 series (LN-Txx69F) 120Hz LCD OWNERS & Q/A Thread
Coming out much like the xx61 to xx65 series, within a month or so will appear the new 69 series.....which like the 61 vs 65 will be 300-700 dollars cheaper on the street vs the Gloss.
The 120hz effect is particularly dramatic as borf has given us access to some early screenshots. http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/cedia07/s...ice-297647.php ![]() Samsung 69 Series Offers Sweet 120Hz Video for Lower Price Take a look at the new Samsung 69 series (LN-T4069F) of 120Hz LCDs just announced here at CEDIA, taking 40-inch and 46-inch 1080p screens slightly downmarket from the company's high-end TVs. But these cheaper models thankfully lack one downside we've noticed: that glossy screen on the higher-end TVs reflects everything in sight. Sammy calls it a Super Clear panel, but we tend to refer to it as "super-glare." This new line delivers those 120Hz smooth-moving pics to those who have about $200 less moo-laa available for such things, but boasts a slightly lower contrast ratio for that reduced price. If you like that high-contrasty look with a shiny screen—say, you don't have a lot of bright lights or windows in the back of your TV room—you might want to opt for Samsung's upscale 71 series, but for the rest of us, these two lower-priced screens might do the trick. 4:33 PM ON FRI SEP 7 2007 Last edited by tombaker; 11-05-07 at 02:34 AM.. |

Certainly....you can feel free to insult Corporate entities too.
My guess to why no 52 is at that size you have people designing a viewing room for the TV so you can reduce the risks of glare much easier. The smaller sizes get dunked into so many different viewing angles.....that you really need a matte finish.....I certainly understand the people who like Gloss....but I am never ever buy a glossy reflection-vision type of display. |

i am sorry for such a general question but i am torn on which one to buy. i am looking for a 46" LCD. I do not do gaming. just movies and tv. But i am looking for a very good picture with excellent color and detail.
Can anyone out there recommend or give me there general thoughts? |

I am drooling to see this new set. This is what I am waiting for. I don't want a glossy screen and I love Samsung products and it sounds like it will be in a decent cost range. I won't be ready to buy for a few months anyways. I am waiting to read more info on it. Hopefully they won't skimp on inputs though.

Isn't this the real 69 series - Jenna Jamison?
We don't want reflections competing with this on a 69 to 69 panel would we? ![]()

I am expecting it within 6 weeks time in stores. The are quoting a price difference to the current models.....which means its priced and ready.
It seriously is just a swap out of panels. As of yet I have not seen a 40 inch 71 series in stores which is curious. |

Me too. I was waiting on the 71/81/XBR4 before this. I was about to buy, and then this announcement comes out. But in the long run, it's a good thing. If it's the 71 with a Matte screen then I'm all over it! The thing I liked most about the xbr4 over the 71 was the reduced glare (I know it still has glare, but it's at least faded more). Now the 69 will be able to compete in this category. Back to waiting...

I just wonder where these 4-6 week timeframes are coming from. I've never heard of a product being released that soon after announcement, but then I haven't followed TVs for very long. I guess that's bearable, but if it's more like 3+ months out, I'd rather just grab the 71. Needs more press releases with release dates.

I think the 4-6 weeks might be a guess based on the assumption that they are simply just switching out the panel from the 71, putting a matte panel on it, and stamping it with 69. I highly doubt that they would miss the holiday season on this tv. But everything at this point is speculation.

There is so much waiting involved when looking to purchase a TV because every week a new model is released with features better suited to your specific liking. Who knows when this TV will come out but I'm sure by the time it is released (if ever), a new model will be announced and then it's back to waiting.
