Note Townhouse basement theater Mk 1

Well, I'm nearing the big day. All my components are arriving. The paint goes on in a couple days, and the guys will be out to help me install some shelving. Here's what I've got, what I'm doing, and what I hope the finished product will be.

COMPONENTS:

TV: Mitsu 65" DLP 720P TV
AVR: Yamaha RX-V1800
DVD: Oppo DV-980H
SAT: DirecTV HR20 DVR
LD: Panasonic AC3 Compliant
GS: X-Box 360 Elite
GS: PS3 60G Edition

WIRING:
Interconnects by Monoprice.
Speaker wire by Etheral

SPEAKERS:

2x KEF iQ9's for my fronts.
2x KEF iQ8ds' for my sides.
2x KEF iq1's for my rears.
1x KEF iQ6c for my center channel.
1x KEF PSW2500 for my sub.

HOW I PLAN TO WIRE IT:

DEVICE................AUDIO CONNECTION............VIDEO CONNECTION
Yamaha AVR.........NA...................................HDMI to TV
Oppo DVD.............HDMI to Yamaha................HDMI to Yamaha
DirecTV HDR..........HDMI to Yamaha................HDMI to Yamaha
X360....................HDMI to Yamaha................HDMI to Yamaha
PS2.....................HDMI to Yamaha.................HDMI to Yamaha
LD Player..............Coaxial to Yamaha..............S-Video to Yamaha

ROOM DIMENSIONS AND SPECS:
Room: 18' x 15' x 8 1/2'
Drywalled ceiling.
Insulated on all 4 walls and ceiling. No windows, carpeted.
Adjacent 5' x 5' closet (to be shelved for DVD's, CD's, ect)
Walls are a nice shade of hunter green.
Carpet is charcoal colored.

TV STAND:
BDI Deploy Max

SEATING:
Black leather couch, leather love seat, and leather chair formed into a U around a black steel and glass coffee table with matching steel and glass end tables. Approx 3 ft off rear wall and 14 ft from screen.

GOALS:
My goals are to be able to play DVD's in 5.1/7.1 surround sound. Listen to SACD, DVD-A, HDCD, and CD-A. I also want to have the best audio output possible from my game systems. Eventually I plan to phase out the Mitsubishi and replace it with a JVC Tri-Chip LCOS projector and a 109"-119" screen.

Thoughts? Opinions? Changes? I have everything listed already in my possession.

Wow, ok, no comments at all. Ok, I guess maybe I should post a few questions.

1.) Any suggestions on "localizing" the bass so it doesn't carry over to my neighbors units?

2.) Do I need wall plates for my speakers or can I just leave a small hole w/ a gromet in the wall for the wiring? Does it make any diffrence acoustically? I ask as I want the speakers flush to the wall.

3.) I'd like to remote mount my game consoles. Does anyone know of a system that can convert component/HDMI video and TOS/LINK to say Ethernet, then decode it later?

You posted a nice list of equipment and told us you painted the room a dark color. I saw that yesterday and didn't know what kind of feedback you wanted.

Now you are worried about Soundproofing.

You could add another layer of DW and use GG. Then repaint the room. Read the Acoustical Treatments Thread over in the Dedicated Room forum for ideas on how to make the room sound it's best. Go to the Green Glue web site for ideas and information on how to construct sound proof walls.

Here's a tip. Install bass shakers/buttkickers in your furniture. That way you can just kill the sub late night and still not really miss the bass. therefore fewer bass related probs with eighbours, or others in your house taht are just trying to sleep.

I've got em installed in my theater ( 11'x13' theatre in my townhouse) and I never have the sub on after 10, and I don't really miss it...

Any opinions on Tripp Lite power conditioning? I'm thinking of thier HT10DBS unit to bolt to the back of my BDI Avion cabinet. That'll keep me from having to use a rack mount power supply and eat up cabinet space.

I have a sliding glass door in this room. Recommendations for sound deadening and light abatement? I'm considering frosting the glass to help reduce the light and just hanging some curtians.

It's actually much darker than the photo's would suggest. I need to borrow a better camera and take some new pics.
