Viewing Distance

I'm looking for user experiences with viewing from relatively close distances. While I've read that for a 52" screen (viewing HD sources), a distance of 6-10 feet is fine, that refers to resolution detection. What concerns me is the "eyeball" comfort level. That is, if you sit 6-8 feet from a 52" screen showing an HD program, to see the whole picture, your eyes would have to scan from side-to-side (and maybe up and down) much more than with a smaller screen.

For those sitting in that 6-10 foot sweet spot: if you sit closer to 7 feet away, do you notice any eye fatigue from scanning from side-to-side? Or do you find yourself moving your head as if watching a tennis match? Or, hopefully, are you completely comfortable watching a big screen from close distance?

Thanks.

Some claim that "tennis match" head moving is uncomfortable while others say it doesn't bother them. You ought to view something like that yourself to see if it bothers you.
