clean power

Hi everybody,

I am a newbie here, and have been hanging around for about a week or so reading all sorts of neat & informative feedback and ideas. I am building my first home theater, and am in need of some info.
My question is: "Is it really neccesary to buy a power station to clean and distribute even power?" I have read through a bunch of other threads in the archives to make sure that I am not wasting anyone's time, but I find that for every person that swears by these devices there is someone else that says they are a waste of money. I also seem to have noticed that it is mostly audio guys that say they notice a difference more than video guys. Is this true? Any input would be appreciated. I built a 100" acoustic transparent screen, and I bought a Mitsubishi HC1500 projector. My sound system isn't great, but it came with the track home I bought two years ago, so it will have to do until my budget recovers a little bit. It is a Bose Lifestyle Suround I think. What do you guys think? Should I get a Monster Power Station?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris:

Two areas I would concentrate on first before worrying about a power conditioner is an upgrade in speakers from the Bose or (even better) focus on room acoustics. There are some very basic acoustic applications you can apply that will help the audio in most rooms. Bass traps in the corners, mid/high freq absorption at the first points of reflection. Go to the audio theory or dedicated construction forums for more info on acoustics.

BTW: I do use power conditioning products in my system. One thing I have subscribed to is buying from companies/products that allow for in-home demo. That is the only way I know for sure what effect (if any) the product may have in my system. One thing you've already learned is this topic draws polar views from the membership.
