Furniture, Entertainment Center

Well, after buying my set I am not going to have much left for an expensive stand or entertainment center. I have searched the web for days looking for something within my price range and size requirements and have yet to find anything. That is where you fine people come in if you don't mind helping me. I need to find an entertainment center within the $400-$700 price range. It needs to be able to hold a flat panel plasma, 48"w, 34" tall and about 97lbs. Any suggestions?

Are you looking for an enclosure? Or are you looking for a typical mount-over-shelving type of unit? Let me know what your criteria are - Style, color, material (wood, composite, glass, etc.), and I could at least tell you which manufacturers to look into. I got an eyeful at the CEDIA convention, as well as a ton of brochures and pamphlets from people who sell this sort of thing, so I'm sure I could point you in the right direction if you want to describe your style requirements.

I am looking for an enclosure. Something with audio piers to the left and right or atleast shelving built on to the unit. Also I would like the credenza to have shelving. I need enough to hold my HD Cable box, A/V Receiver, HD DVD Player and Xbox 360. Oh, and Nintendo Wii. So a simple stand with 3 shelves will not cut it. Everything I have looked at though is either way out of my price range or too damn big. I don't have very much room but I want something that looks nice. I have about a 7' wide space to work with. I looked into getting something custom made but that was way too expensive at this time.

Right now Im looking for something simple that can hold everything I have along with my surround sound system. (7.1) Maybe in a light finish or dark cherry.

Hmm... That's a tall order! You might check out one of those sites that search multiple vendors, like pricegrabber.com. You would probably benefit from just sifting through different display units until you find one that you like. Then you can narrow your search from there. If you see something that works, let me know. I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with.

Good luck!

I Like It

I have had this model for a few months now. Glass shelves are thick with black coating on the bottom to give them a really good look. The powdercoat is also good.

I bought this unit for a 42" plasma. My man cave is over the garage and did not have enough wall space to mount it to the wall. The only problem I see is the metal divider that is meant to hide your wires, in my opinion, does not do a good job in hiding your wires. Otherwise it looks great.

For the money, I think it is a much better option than installing on a wall and altering the walls, routing electrical, etc. It also allows space for all my toys without being square and bulky like a traditional entertainment center.
