DSM-520 firmware 1.05 and album art

I can't seem to get any album art to work with the latest (1.05) firmware. Versions 1.03 and 1.04 got stuck after a few changes, and I was hoping 1.05 fixed this problem, but with 1.05 I don't get anything at all.

Is there anyone out there with better luck than me that has gotten it to work?

Doesn't work here, either.

Has anyone heard anything more on this issue?

I just got a (second) response from Dlink tech support saying that they are unable to reproduce the problem. Personally, I don't believe they even tested the feature - I asked them for details on how they set their art up (size, etc), since they seem to be the only ones who claim to have functional album art. I'll see what they say next.

Their first response was laughable - some canned response about how to embed album art in MP3 files. I guess they didn't read the part about the art working in the last two firmware releases, albeit with "sticking" issues)

I've been running 1.05 since it came out and never saw any album art at all with that release until yesterday. Ran one album, no art. I was having some server problems, got that fixed and on the next album I played, the art showed up.

Really? Anything special about the art for the working album? Maybe size?

Nothing special that I know of. I went through my MP3 library (about 30 Gig) and ran all the albums I could through MediaMonkey's Amazon lookup for the art. The album that showed the art was Harry Chapin's Verities & Balderdash if that helps any. Haven't had much of a chance to play with it since.

So far, though, I've never seen it reliably handle the album art. Reliably being the key word here.

The album art is the "NEW" feature which become available in 1.04 for DSM520. Vesions prior than that rely on servers to provide the album art and only show it in the browse, not in the playing page.

If it does not work, it is possible that
* The ID3 tag parser of DSM520 has bugs.
* The media server send some fake album art URL which is not available.
* The size of the album is too big.

Therefore, please always use D-link media server as the benchmark for this issue. If the issue is the first one, can you try to send me the first 500K of that song.

The D-Link server is all I use, 1.09. My DSM-520 is relatively new and has only ever run 1.04 and 1.05. I think it had 1.02 when I got it about a month ago, but the first thing I did was upgrade it to 1.04.

As I understand it, MediaMonkey embeds the album art in the MP3 file itself, so this shouldn't be a URL issue. Or maybe I'm wrong about that.

I'll play a bit when I get home today and see if I can send you a working sample and a non-working sample.

att1234- Please check your PM -- I've left links for a couple files you can play with.

Also just noticed that the 520 is playing album tracks in alphabetic order rather than track number order. This is probably normal...

att1234,
Based on testing so far, it looks like only low resolution art is being displayed. So far, only art up to 200x200 is working. Most of my art is 300x300 and 400x400, which worked fine in 1.04 (the limit used to be somewhere around 500x500, but it looks like it has been changed to something much lower).

Thanks for checking that, k10ck3r. I don't appear to have the tools without engaging in a seriously manual process. Just looking over some of the album art on Amazon, it looks like a lot of what they use is 500x500.
