big speakers near fireplace???

I have a pair of MTX monitor tower speakers. Each has a 12 inch sub.

I am moving into a house with a rock fireplace. There is a perfect spot for one of these speakers between the edge of the rock ledge, and a build in bookshelf.

The speaker would be over two feet away from a any fire, at a slight angle. I am worried about the heat, or embers. It is a gas fireplace, wood can also be used.

So could the heat damage the fabric of the cover? Or the finish on the side? Or worse, ruin the speaker?

Anyone have a similar setup with/without problems?

Thanks.

Step 1: build fire
Step 2: place hand where you are considering placing speaker
Step 3: If hand is warm, heat may damage speaker enclosure.
Step 4: consider different location for speakers

Good luck.
