Gorgeous detail. A few of the pics look too bright (for example the 1st Panda shot) but I'm sure you can dial that down.

I have the Sammy 5054 myself & have heard great things about the 5884.

the camera enhances the brightness a bit, this canon 950 is wacky, 10 pix of the same and all 10 look different

by the way the planet earth pictures above i noticed the bluish.. hence powerdvd was @ theater mod - i will retake all of the above pix again @ original mode just like the ones below,

ive updated post # 2 & 3, less bluish @ original mode but still too much @ camera

all shots taken @ auto/auto iso/flash @ off

the camera overbrightens, its bluish effecting and a lot of detail is lost, none of the pix come close to the actual pix on the 5084

yeh, i have yet to master the canon ds950is

anyways, if you guys want to continue, feel free.. post those beatifo pix of your xx74/84

see yahs..

Wow Z.Z. these look really good. The blacks are very deep. Now I wish we could have the 5010 and 50PZ700U next to your 5084. However, great job!

D-Nice. The Pioneer looks great. Exceptional detail in those shots. Colors look natural. I wonder if the difference is due to the camera or the TV itself.

The pictures were done by cybertec with my settings and his Nikon D200 with Nikon 17-55/ 2.8 lens

D-nice's comparison, and thats why i posted those shots.. is not 5084 vs kuro

its my canon ds950is vs cybertec's nikon d200

all that bluish which should be grayish and wherever the camera overbrightens all that detail is gone

same camera @ kuro vs sam and you'll all be surprised how close..

How close do you feel ZZ that the 5084 comes to replicating the "print screens" in real life with the lights off?

ZZ could you describe the black levels on the 5084 when watching with the lights off? Do the blacks actually look and feel like a deep dark inky black?

Thanks!

I loooked at the 5084 today at Magnolia with controlled lighting and I have to say that I think that Panny 50pz700u looks much better than it. The Panny definitely has better black levels and the Sammy didn't seem to reproduce colors quite as well out of the box, but I assume that this could be fixed with the advanced color controls. I don't think that I would buy either of the TVs though after comparing them to the Pioneer Kuros that I saw, the black levels on the Sammy and Panny 1080p sets don't even look as good as their 720p counterparts.

I just need to decide at this point if I should jump on the pio 6010 or get the 5080 and wait 1-2 more generations and buy another set then.

A print screen is when you use a blu-ray drive in a computer and capture that actual digital 1080p output untouched and unprocessed. Those print screens are the closest replication to what the content should actually look like but it is transfered to a JPEG. If you had a calibrated computer monitor the print screens would basically show you the picture exactly as the director intended for you to see them. Basically they make for a great reference to the shots taken with a digital camera, but only if the shots with the digital camera are close to accurate which ZZ's are not.

the way i see the print screens on my 5084 its an exact match

lol @ 'deep dark inky black'

uhh even the kuros dont do that kinda sexy black but the kuros are the closest to that

if theres a tv out there that does absolute pure black, let it be known

i went through the manual settings, all pix not just of the tv come out w/ that blue tint, @ accent color mode much less blue tint better grays but all the other colors go out the window, i lowered gamma it comes out darker/more 'colorful' still blue tinting

i just about gave up on this camera, i understand this aint no dslr or pro camera but i expected better pictures, then again probably just me

Prt Sc key @ keyboard

unfortunately print screen takes the pix @ video output not @ tv

but the way i see the prints on my display theyre an exact match, the way you see'em on your display depends on your display

would be cool if you can plug in an usb drive into the tv and actually take an exact pic of what the tv displays, but i dont know how that would go with holywood though, most likely they would call that "illegal"
