Is my new XBR4 faulty, or is this normal reception?

My XBR4, connected directly by cable (no box), displays alot of odd artificats when showing HD channels. I.e, the background of a scene will turn into blocky pixels when motion/camera pan occurs. Also, shimmering dots/noise will appear at many times even on HD sources.

What gives?? I thought HD was supposed to be clear/crisp - why am I have this, is this a defective new TV, a bad source, or just the way it is? Is this normal compression?

If so, how do I get the best HD signal - do I need to switch to a cable box, or sattelite?

Thanks
Aqua

Sounds like channel bandwidth issues from your cable company. Do OTA (over the air) signals look equally as bad?
