Three new S-Series AVRs from Denon, two with HEOS built-in.

The latest Denon S-Series AVRs have been announced. Notably, two of these 2017 models come with the company’s HEOS wireless audio system built-in.

Denon’s three new S-Series AVRs include the AVR-S530BT ($280), a 5.1-channel entry-level unit featuring Bluetooth; the AVR-S730H ($500) that offers HEOS functionality plus 7.1 channels and the AVR-S930H that adds more power, 4K upscaling, and more HDMI ports to the S730H’s feature set.

Here are more details on each AVR:

The AVR-S530BT offers 5.1 surround-sound with 70 watts per channel of power. There is an automated speaker setup function,, and three of its five HDMI inputs support HDCP 2.2.

Denon’s AVR-S730H has HEOS, supports Dolby Vision, offers 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. It has seven channels of amplification with 80 watts per channel, six HDMI inputs that all feature HDMI 2.0a with HDCP 2.2, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, Audyssey Bronze, and a 32-bit / 768 kHz DAC.

The AVR-S930H offers all of the features of the AVR-S730H and ups the power output to 95 watts for 7 channels. It also has eight HDMI 2.0a / HDCP 2.2 inputs and dual HDMI outputs plus 4K scaling is built-in.

HEOS grants these AVRs streaming powers and lets them act as nodes in a multi-room audio system. What would you rather have for $500, a Sonos amp or a Denon Atmos-capable AVR with HDMI and Audyssey? The value proposition here is tremendous.
