Hi. I have a $16/month Comcast cable connection from which I want to record the local QAM HD broadcasts. Frankly, I don't care about having two tuners; watching while recording; etc. I simply want the capability of capturing the QAM broadcasts to watch later, and don't want to pay additional monthly subscriptions fees (Tivo, etc.) ??? Thanks,

J.

Check out the Echostar TR-50, coming out this summer:

Until then, there isn't anything in production that is worth recommending.

Nope, won't do the trick, no QAM tuner. Here's what it'll have (from engadget.com):

"Second up is the TR-50, which adds in DVR functionality for both analog and digital (including HD) OTA. Step up to this model and you also get CC support, recording pop-up reminders, and a bevy of connectivity options for added functionality (Ethernet, modem and USB). No pricing info on the TR-50 for now, so EchoStar will be picking a number before the July availability."

It has an ATSC tuner, yes? So wouldn't that pickup the QAM feeds from my cable? My MITS 65732 has an ATSC (pretty sure there's nothing QAM specific about it - though maybe I'm wrong) and it pulls in the local QAM HD broadcasts off the cable feed just fine.

???

ATSC is the standard for broadcasting digital TV via antenna only.

So what device, in my MITS, is currently tuning in the QAM channels coming over my analog-only Comcast cable?

EDIT: Survey says... aparently the MITS does have a specific QAM tuner. When it doubt, check the manual, right? LOL. Thanks for the further discussion. So I guess I'm back to my original question... finding a DVR w/ QAM besides TIVO?

You can look for a used Sony DHG-HDD500 or 250, or an LG 3410A QAM/ATSC/NTSC DVR on ebay or somewhere.
