Hi,

I have three HD-DVRs from DirecTV (two 100s, and one 700). Over the past 2 months, we constantly get 771 messages. These are usually corrected once the unit is reset, but it's too annoying to deal with anymore. I haven't checked yet, but some of the often affected channels include VH-1, HGTV, etc. We've seen the problem on all three boxes.

Called DirecTV and they want $70 for someone to come out. Since we're seeing the problem with all of the boxes, is it likely a bad multiswitch? Better for me to buy one off eBay rather than pay/wait for an installer? DirecTV also said something about static buildup and advised disconnecting/reconnecting the sat cables. Is it also possible it's a dish alignment issue and/or bad cables somewhere?

Thanks. At first I thought it was related to the recent s/w upgrade, but it's clearly something else.
