Hi,

I am new to this site and I hope I find the right place to ask questions

I have a 3-year old Panasonic DVD/HD recorder with 100 GB hard drive. The mode number is DMR-EH50, and I think it's the "S" version, i.e. silver, I remember there was on the box a DMR-EH50S when I got it. That probably does not make a difference though. I googled and I found very little information about upgrading the HD in this device. It is a 3.5" Maxtor Hard Drive, and I think it is a 5400 RPM drive. It is ATA133. I'd like to put a 250-300 GB drive in there, any ideas of what I have to do? shall I clone the HD? what tools do I need? I have a Mac and also a PC, so please suggest whatever software is needed. Does anyone know what format is used in these drives? FAT, FAT32, Linux, NTFS, etc?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Panasonic does out-of-warranty service for $130 flat fee. My BIL got 6 components replaced, incl. HDD and burner, for $130 (they'll first say they need to check, etc., but mention their "flat-fee" rate and they pay shipping, return via RMA):

Panasonic Service Center
1590 Touhy Ave
Elk Grove Village, IL 60007

It works, fine, I just want a larger HD. I don't think Panasonic would be willing to put a 500 GB drive in there for a flat fee of $13o, if they did that would be awesome.
