I have a Pioneer 630HD DVR; it has an IR blaster that used to change the channel on my time warner set top box, worked great.
Time warner recently downloaded new firmware to their set top box, and it changed 2 things (among others): (1)it changed the timing for its IR reception so that you have to enter two digits faster now to get a two-digit channel, and it thereby prevents my DVR from changing to a two-digit channel, (2) it removed the option it used to have for having the set-top box change to a given channel at a specified time.
So now I can only record shows for which I change the channel ahead of time.
Does anyone have suggestions for how to handle this? I don't know of any way to change the timing on either the recorder or the STB, and neither Pioneer nor Time Warner think it's their problem (it's the other company, or mine, but certainly not theirs). It's hard to believe I'm the only one that's noticed.
I thought it must be possible to build a box that would accept IR and output them again in a timing I could control, but I'm not a hardware guy. If someone else can build such a thing with a microcontroller in it, I can program it...
