My question in a nutshell is....Is Comcast using Motorola for their Std Def DVR boxes now? Or are they still using the Pace Vegas boxes?? I'm in Massachusetts if that makes a difference.
Read on for why I'm curious about this....
Back in Feb 2007 I got a couple of Std Def DVR's from Comcast here in Massachusetts, the Pace TDC575 Vegas. I had nothing but problems with them (rebooting nearly daily) and eventually convinced comcast to give me a Motorola DVR ( DCH3416 ) instead because they knew the Pace boxes were troublesome. They gave me a monthly discount each month for the first 8 months or so to bring the cost of the Motorola HD DVR down to the price of the Pace SD DVR because I do not use HDTV (Yes, I know I want it, but haven't convinced the wife to get a new TV yet)
I've been very happy with the DCH3416 since then. I called Comcast today to try to lower my monthly bill, and he said that I was paying more for the HD DVR, and that I could pay less if I went with a SD DVR. I asked him if their SD DVR boxes were still Pace or if they were Motorola. He tells me that they're Motorola now.
Can anyone confirm if Comcast is in fact using Motorola Std Def DVR's, or are they still using those lousy Pace boxes???? I didn't get a feeling of confidence from the Rep that I was talking to, so I'm skeptical of his claims. If they're using Motorola boxes now, what is the Model # ?
