Hi,
I have a DCT6416 III PVR from Shaw in Canada which I got a week ago because Shaw had a sweet deal....free!. I am wondering if anyone knows of hacked firmware that will allow me to be able to pause/rewind for longer then 20 mins with this PVR. It's a bit annoying because I pause it, go do something then come back and what I was watching has un paused and I missed a bunch of it. I called shaw and they said it can't be changed, but in my opinion, everything can be changed and firmware is meant to be hacked. I built a Mythtv box a few years ago and loved it because everything could be set how you want it, but have since scrapped it because it didn't work well with iptv (which I had with telus). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The simple answer is no.

There's no way to modify the firmware (stored on a PROM, soldiered to the board). The firmware is not meant to be hacked, and as far as I know, no one has ever done so.
