Wondering if there is a way to move DVR material to my HP Laptop or to an external hard drive. With college football season approaching, I would love to be able to archive some games.

If so, do I have to do some fooling around so that the content is in a format playable on my laptop and "burnable" to DVD?

Edit: I am running Vista 64-bit.

If you are using a TiVo you can do it with TiVo desktop. Assuming the program is not restricted from being transferred. On FIOS there are no restrictions on any of the programs.

I do have FiOS, and have a Motorola box. How do I move the material over to either an external HD or my laptop?

Go read the "How to cap through firewire on Windows XP" thread over in the HDTV Recorder sub-forum.
[Note: 64 bit kiddies can stop here and keep searching.]
Uno - Connect a firewire cable between your computer and the motorola DVR
Dos - Download and install Exdues drivers & CapDVHS.
Tres - Fire up CapDVH and hit record.
It is that simple my friends.
