I recently purchased a 6412 (-2305 Comcast) and activated here in Ontario through Cogeco (as I did with a previous 6208).
Anyway, it works fine except the DVR doesn't work. I went into the diagnostic menu, and discovered that the "DVR status" was set to false, as well as no hard drive was being detected at all. Listening closer to box I also noticed the hard drive spin up, then I hear 4 successive louder clicks, which sounded odd compared to my old 6208 that I bought this box to replace it.
My guess is a bad drive? The seller said it worked fine for him; I suppose a hard drive could get corrupted in shipment, though it was bubble-wrapped to hell.
I've also read that the Comcast boxes will not activate the DVR unless connected to a Comcast network; is this really the case? If so, is there anyway for me to force the box to enable the DVR?
If it's a bad drive I could try using the 6208 hard drive (as it's still good).
Any help or insight would be appreciated,
