We have DircTV in the motorhome with their R22-100 DVR. Sometimes we can't see the bird because of trees. This is not a frequent thing so not much sense in spending a lot of $. The HD TV can scan for signals and works great...we just do not watch live TV!
I would like to get a DVR that would record HD OTA (and SD from cable that some parks provide) but from seeing the charts on the forum, I see that there are none other than TiVO. We have TiVO in the stick house and love it. But, it needs to connect to get the program data. Also, we often go in to Mexico so I would prefer the ability to manually scan for signals. (BTW DirecTV's AM21 would be good except that it won't work if you can't see the bird and has no manual scan capability...or so I've been told.)
Given all this I was going to go for the Magnavox 2160, non-HD. But then I saw an article by Kim Kommando on USB Tuners. I've searched these and maybe that is an option?
- But, will they send a decent signal, through the laptop to the TV?
Any other comments/suggestions? Thanks, steve
