Hi,
I was wondering if anyone is doing Multi-room Viewing with TivoHDs, and what kind of speeds they're getting? I'm considering adding a 2nd Tivo for the bedroom, and would likely be doing a lot of MRV.. Tivo is very coy/evasive about their speeds, and when doing a direct transfer using Roxio's software for Mac, I was pushing at most 10-15mbps across a 100mbps wire.
So.. Is it faster from Tivo-to-tivo? Say, 1080i60 transfer in real-time faster?

Just curious..

I haven't measured the speed, but on a 100 Mbit wired network, I can start a hi-def transfer, then immediately begin watching without any buffering. With Tivo MRV you do not have to wait for the transfer to complete to begin watching, however you will only be able to FF to the point where the video has been transferred.

Be sure to see the the TiVo HD FAQ (and TiVo Premiere FAQ) linked in my signature.

Multi-room throughput between TiVoHD DVRs is more than twice as fast as computer downloads. Throughput between two TiVoHD DVRs is typically 16-24Mbps depending on what else you are doing on the DVRs at the time. Most cable channels are broadcast at under 16Mbps, but some like ESPN-HD are usually 17-19Mbps.

I would suggest you select the TiVo Premiere as your next DVR, as it features a much faster CPU to improve download and MRV throughput. TivoHD will be the bottleneck in multi-room transfers, but at least you'll only have one potential bottleneck in the system, not two. That should allow you to consistently transfer at closer to 24Mbps than 16Mbps. At 24Mbps, you should have no trouble watching remote recordings without delay.
