I've sent the questions below to both Cox and Western Digital but this forum usually has more timely and detailed answers so here goes...
I've been using a WD "My DVR Expander" with a COX HD DVR (it's the Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR) for close to 2 years. Recently playback started to freeze or the DVR would not be able to start playback at all. I've determined that the problem is with my DVR expander (new DVR didn't work with expander but new DVR works fine without expander).
I have three questions:
- is there a way to run diagnostics on the expander to determine what the error is?
- is there any way to recondition the drive?
- can I replace the drive with a new one? How do I open the case to get started.
