My wife and I canceled our cable for the summer hoping they would let us come back at an introductory price in time for the start of TV in the fall. We were wrong.
However, we've found that we don't miss the cable all that much. Most of what we watch is on network TV and that comes in even with the cable canceled.
Our HDTV is plugged into the same wall outlet and picks up about 20 channels including all of the network channels. Going to an antenna is not an option where we live. We are in a valley, with no antenna reception.
My question is this: is there a way to record the channels that are coming through (are these channels considered OTA or QAM???)? Is there a way to do it and receive a guide? I'm looking to do this without a cablecard and would love to do it without a monthly fee, but if the fee works out to be cheaper (when annualized) that is fine as well.
