Dont think any are actually sold legally in the united states since not all cable systems use the same card brand, ie some use motorola while others use scientific atlanta (cisco) which are not cross compatible. Your best bet would be getting a Moxi http://www.moxi.com or TiVo http://www.tivo.com and having a cablecard installed by your cable system.

Your other option is a home theater PC with a digital tuner and cablecard.

Thanks.

Do you know any of those devices that you recommended? The home theater PC seem to have very strict restrictions such as the operating system, format its recorded in as well as possibility not recording at all due to broadcasting flags.

The moxi device looks interesting. I wonder why I never heard of it before.

Thanks.
