I have a Scientific American 8300hd DVR. All I want to do is to copy material recorded onto the DVR to either a flash drive or DVD so that I can view it in another location. I am not electronic savvy, thus please be gentle in any response. I have a small portable flashdrive playback unit, plus the dvd player at work has a USB port.
I need to use material that I have recorded from cable to present to a community group meeting on their TV.

Look at the back of your DVR. There should be output ports to connect to a VCR. You should be able to connect to a DVD burner. The only problem is that - just like recording to a VCR - it will record to the DVD at 1:1 speed. You will not be able to drag and drop your recordings. If recording to a DVD burner does not work, then you will have to record to a VCR first and then convert that to a DVD.
