I'm experimenting with the Channel Master CM-7000PAL. It does some of what I want, but I think I'll be better off with MythTV - despite the effort involved setting it up.

So I'll be returning the CM but I'd like to get a few recordings transferred first. Is this possible? Easy? I don't want to take it apart for fear of not being able to return it, but wonder if I can access via Ethernet. I've found the IP address, but that's as far as I've got. All the ports seem to be closed. I can't find anything about hacking the Channel Master.

I have my 7000pal connected to a vcr and from there to my tv.  Transferring programs to VHS is no problem.
