....just as you can on a VCR? ....into the program?

So...suppose I'm going out at 6pm, but wanna watch a show that's on at 7:30pm. I start recording the desired channel when I leave the house, then obviously come home some hours later and stop the recording to watch my show. I obviously have to FF roughly 90mins. So can I zero the counter at the start of my show? I don't think so, but I thought I'd ask. Thanks.

Not being able to do so annoys me so much that I sometimes deliberately make sure I'm home at the start on my shows so I can start recording right when the show starts. I need a life.

I guess I could program the timer, but here in Australia, shows NEVER start on time, especially after 6pm (this is a silly way the networks try to prevent people changing channels, coz they figure if someone has missed the start of a show on another channel, they're more likely to stay on their channel), so my shows would still be starting at least 5 to 10mins into the recorded 'section'.

Why don't you just set a timer program to start at 7:30pm, then it will be zero-set from the get-go?

A big "der" to me.
After more than 4 years, I accidentally found a solution to this, not that I was looking very hard for all that time. HA.

It dawned on me that the letters on the remote must be for editing titles, and I was right.
While in "navigate", I pressed "options" on the remote for a recorded program; one of the options is "edit", which I selected.

Well, well, well, along with "enter title name", another one of the handful of edit options is "partial delete". I thought, "what the hell? Don't tell me I can cut off the time before and after a show I've watched!"

So, I tried it, and yes, when I delete the extra time at the start of a program, the 'new' start time is obviously zero on counter.

I'm such an idiot. For the last 5 years or so I've often been hitting record when I leave the house to record a show that might be on a few hours later, so I'm stuck with a 'title' that's several hours longer than needed, and it doesn't have the correct name.

For example, I might go out at 6pm, press record to tape a one-hour show that's on at 9pm, get home at midnight, then stop it. So, not only do I have a 6-hour recording for a 60min show, it has the title of the show that was on at 6pm, but no more.

As I said in the first post, using the timer is no good, because shows in Australia often start late and go way over time.

Big issues. Ha This has changed my life Hee hee.

As they say, it pays to read the manual for more than 2 mins when you buy something.
