I want to be able to create short video clips from either my HD DVR, or a gaming console. I want a device that can support both functionalities. The gaming console could be old or new.

How can I do this? And what connections will I need to make?

Does the device come with great software that will allow me to make these video clips?

I want to be able to play a scene from a TV show, or sporting event, and create a short movie clip of it on my PC.

My DVR has RF out, component video out, and S-video out. I'm not sure how I can get digital video from that. It also has HDMI out, but I'm currently using the HDMI port to connect to my TV.

I'd be willing to use a HDMI splitter with one input, two out if necessary.

Here are some devices I see:

1.

It seems pretty good, but I've also read a lot of reviews by people who say it doesn't work at all, or that it freezes.

It says it captures in HD, but I'm not sure how if the inputs are analog composite.

I don't think it captures in HD.

This needs an external hard drive in addition.

This seems like it could do it, but the video inputs all appear analog. Shouldn't there be a HDMI video input too?

Thanks in advance for the responses and assistance.
