Are there deals to be found for a DVR, if all one wanted was to copy not copy-write protected VHS to a DVD? Do you need special expensive DVDs. I have enough VCRs to last my life, but it may be more easy to record some of my old favourites onto DVD and I do not expect a better picture, most are black and white movies.

DVD recorder will do the trick, I have older panasonic ES10. It has been bulletproof . Only drawback is you have to record live, in other words, if the show is 1 hr. long, it will take 1 hr. to record it.
