I have a Panasonic DMr-EH75V which no longer will record to a DVD. I suspect the laser is no longer functional as it recognizes no disks nor will it burn a disk. It seems no one will fix this problem. I would like to get something to replace it. I don't want to connect my PC to the tv so I would like a stand alone DVR with a reasonable hard drive to record on. The features I want are no monthly fee, HD if possible but not necessary, an IR blaster to change channels on my Direct TV receiver, ability to record to DVD, and ability to play a dvd would be nice. My present machine could at one time record to most DVD formats that would be a feature that would be nice. It seems the number of manufacturers of these devices is declining. Any suggestions from anyone?

PM AVS member Mickinct. He'll fix it right up for you for a righteous price. The people here swear by him. Does excellent work.
