This is directly from Sony's site:

Built-in 17.5†widescreen LCD
Built-in Stereo Speakers with SRSâ„¢ WOWâ„¢

Preorder now! Product begins shipping mid-August.
$ 1,999.99
as low as $50.00/ mo

Notice the Giga Pocket PVR! Built into the Computer. With a 17" Wide Flat Screen Display. And a built in DVD recorder. Plus pre existing inputs to tape your old VHS tapes. Sure the price will come down.

We gotta see how it works first. Computer DVRs have been somewhat spotty. I hope Sony has this working like it's supposed to

I would guess that when the PC is delivered, the PVR will function as well as a dedicated PVR like Replay or Tivo.

However, once you install a few applications, and once the PC is infected with various spyware and viruses, that the PVR will cease to perform flawlessly. It is running Windows, after all, which is totally insecure and vulnerable to attack.

The advantage of Replay and Tivo is that it is more of a "sealed" appliance. Few people attempt to install or modify the software. There are no known viruses or spyware for them (except for the manufacturers' spyware).

A Sony tends to come with plenty of bloatware already installed.
