I just got a flyer from my local store about a apex dvr with a 40g hard drive, I cant make out the model of it but it doesnt have a dvd player.
I wondering if anybody has one of these as I cant find anything on line about it either..
As there is no tivo service in canada that I know of so this might be a alternative.

Is this thing worth $557 canadian plus 15 percent taxes.

Best Regards

Found the following in a press release from Apex:

Leading the way for the Apex DVD Series in 2003 are the company’s first ever DVD recorder models. Scheduled for delivery in Q1 2003, the new full size (16.9†X 2.8â€H X 11.8â€D) Apex ADR 1000 features up to 40 hours of one-touch, programmable hard disk recording, as well as time-shift, DVD video playback, Progressive Scan (480p) playback, Kodak Picture CD/JPEG playback, MP3/WMA audio file playback, audio CD/CD-R/CD-RW playback, video fluorescent display, active full screen function (AFF), and LED power indicator. Also standard are a complete set of inputs that include progressive-interlaced component video output, S-video input/output, composite video input/output, optical and coaxial digital audio output, analog stereo input/output, and RF antenna input/output.

Hi folks
I have been researching this model. It was announced in early January 2003, and put up for pre order on Amazon.com in May 2003. Apex has not shipped this model. Contacting apexdigitalinc.com gets you the promise
that the unit will come out in late summer or early fall of 2003. Or its customer service unit says "The information that we have is not definite. The final word will come to us from China. At this point it is going to be built. I wish I could give you a more definite answer but we are left in the dark until the last minute. thankyou" So far the company has failed to ship the unit . Amazon.com says about the Apex ADR " This item is not stocked or has been discontinued. " Yet it does give techinical specs for it. I given those below .

So after all this I have bought an RCA Scenium DRS7000N and have been happy. Hope this helps
