June 7 the SA 8000HD box was delivered in Malibu /Calabasas Ca But no DVI is active, I find that strange because the SA 325o HD It replaced had DVI active. Does anyone know if DVI is active anyware with the SA 8000HD box.

Lane,

DVI is not active anywhere on the SA8000HD. DVI is planned for the SR1.2 or SR1.3 release, expected around September.

bfdtv:

You seem quite versed with the SA8000HD and I had a specific question regarding some values I found in the user menu.

Found the box I'm beta testing from COMCAST with the MPEG Encoder Status Horiz. Res. set to 640 and the Vert. Res. set to 480.

I'm pretty sure these aren't HD resolution values, but I'm also not sure if they can be or should be. I'm also not sure of the exact function of the MPEG Encoder Status.

Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks for your contributions to the forum.

Mark

Krout,

Those are the values for the MPEG-2 encoders, which are used to encode and record the analog channels (typically 1-99). The encoders are not used with digital or HD channels; the original MPEG-2 bitstream for these channels is saved to disk, without modification.
