This seems to be the most applicable forum to ask my question....

Has anyone tried using a USB TV tuner in a HTPC for PVR functionality? If so, was it connected via USB 1.1 or 2.0? How fast was the CPU, and how well did the TV record?

I'm thinking about modding an Xbox to give it Tivo functionality, and think that USB 1.1 will be the limiting factor as far as PVR goodness is concerned. But I'd like to double check. IIRC, the Xbox has the rough equivalent of a PIII-733...

Bump. LMK if there's a more appropriate forum that I've managed to overlook.

I wouldn't really recommend modding an xbox to that purpose -- that's a lot of work, without the extra expansion, hardware configurability, etc., that a real box would give you.

The 1.1 devices are okay, but obviously limited by the bandwidth of 1.1 -- I've used the ATI tuner, not too shabby. USB2 devices can do full SD resolution with no problems from what I've read/heard.
